gaffes in TEN WANTED MEN
Next time you watch this Randolph Scott-Richard Boone-Lee Van Cleef-Leo Gordon oater look for this.....When Randy shoots Boone (across a table) not only is his gun not cocked and the hammer never moves, but when you hear the sound of gunfire no muzzle flash or gun smoke is seen....when they cut to the next scene then you see the smoke from the gun shot puffin' up in front of ol' Randy. And, earlier on when Randy shoots Lee notice the odd angle of the gun in his hand....from the looks of things, to me, the gun was not pointed at Lee when he fired.

No,it weren't pointed at lee,but tragically we have seen what happens when it was pointed at Brandon Lee.I have known of randy's no gunsmoke fire and then gunsmoke fire.I like this one johnny because it does not stay town bound talk you to death. The action is there. If you recently viewed it again, well then you are my kind of people.
Hmm..
I had never noticed those gaffes before, Jangoz. But, that gives me an excuse to view TEN WANTED MEN, again! I just love this movie!
Outside of the Boetticher films, this is one of my most favorite Randolph Scott Westerns.
Also, it was shot at Old Tucson...another plus in my book!
Just found out yesterday that one of the ranch houses in the film is actually what became The High Chaparral (not to be confused with the High Chapel Rail!).
I'm still trying to get over Big Leo arriving in town riding side-saddle.
I have a reflection for my holy trinity of western experts. My three godfathers of the genre, tom, jangoz and chris...chris,jangoz and tom.Not a question we can answer but one I would like answered. This has to do with 1957 and splinters off from randolph scott.First off in 1957 we have randy in Shootout at Medicine Bend,a warner western not directed by bud that co stars jim garner.Next we have The Tall T,a 1957 western directed by bud.In it randy loses his horse in a bet over that bull ride. You all three know it forward and backward. Now we cut to the warner backlot but still 1957,it is the three episodes bud directed of maverick. In two of the three that bud directed, jim garner mounts up and rides off at the end on the buckskin randy lost in the bet in tall t.What do we make of that? Wayne rode the same horse in the searchers, the horse soldiers and liberty valance, but never rode him for any other director.Almost like ford told wayne that he will ride this horse,or else.I suspect this animal belonged to boetticher. You can line up a hundred curvy southern california blondes, put them in bikinis and I won't be able to tell one from the other. But I can't be fooled with horses. We will never know but I wager bud owned him for I have never seen him in another film. When I was a kid a guy in town named harper,(I use to call him harpo) use to say that you could fill a 55 gallon drum with what he didn't know.My drum still has a little room left in it,or mebbe I've moved onto fill many more. But I have always had questions that I could never get answered.Does my western trinity ever have that problem???
I don't know about that particular horse, but I do know that Budd did own some horses. Interesting post to ponder.....
